Philip Lee McGill, 85, husband to Rachel Chandler McGill for 61 years, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. Mr. McGill was born in Shelby, NC to the late John Elford McGill and Mamie Sue Kuykendall McGill. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church. Philip was known for and enjoyed organizing a “Fabulous 50’s Reunion” for all of the decade graduates of Simpsonville High school. He also loved playing with his grandchildren and working in the yard. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Susan R. “Becky” Rawls (Blair), Gay McGill, and Amy Turner (Brad); one sister, Barbara McCulley; one sister in-law, Sandra McGill; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Parsons, Ike Parsons, Jason Turner, Alexis Turner, Levi Turner and Rachel Rawls; one great-grandchild, Bryson Fowler; along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Walter McGill, Fred McGill, Jack McGill, Bill McGill and Joe McGill and three sisters, Gaynelle Brown, Juanita Fuller and Faye Chandler. Mr. McGill will be available for viewing 11am-5 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service. A Graveside Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Standing Springs Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Jordan Cobb. Please practice social distancing and the wearing of masks during the service.
