Obituary of Gwendolyn Buckner Calvert

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Ann Buckner Calvert, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Gwendolyn was born in Fountain Inn to the late Alfred Leroy Buckner and Ellen Rita Miller Buckner. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and then Durbin Creek Baptist Church. Gwen retired from WR Grace/Cryovac after more than 40 years of service. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and gardening and gospel music. Surviving, are two daughters, Denise Allison Potts and Jimmie Ann Allison; a son, Ronald “Ronnie” Allison (Glenda); her twin sister, Gladys Taylor (Henry); four grandchildren, Kristi Chandler, Heather Scott (Michael), April Brewer, and Kelly Stamper III; nine great-grandchildren, Preston Holland, Ty Brewer, Symphonee Isaac, Brionna Scott, Zachery Jerrett (Kirsten), Bailey Chandler, Dakota Brown, Aiden Chandler and Colt Brown; and two great-great-grandchildren, Harmoni Holland and Lennex Jarrett. She was predeceased by three sisters, Lucille Massey, Clara Boggs and Sue Spoon; a grandchild, Stacy Brown; and former husband and the father of surviving children, Donald Allison. A Celebration of Gwendolyn’s Life will be 3 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
