Joseph Samuel Cox, 87, entered his eternal rest the morning of August 15, 2023. Sammy passed at home after a brief illness, surrounded by family.

Sammy was born in Anderson on March 25, 1936 to the late Joseph Cullen and Thelma Bishop Cox. He was a graduate of Simpsonville High School where he played football and basketball and married his Homecoming Queen sweetheart, Alice O’Neal McCall in 1956. He was a founding and faithful member of Five Forks Baptist Church and served his Lord and the church as a Deacon, usher, Sunday school director, choir member, and committee member for nearly 50 years. He was a business owner and did small engine repairs in the community for the majority of his career. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and loved music. He was kind-hearted, thoughtful, and a genuine man always trying to share Christ through his actions and words.
