Obituary of Randy McRae

MAJ Randall Davis “Randy” McRae, USAF Ret., 73, husband of Suzanne Renee Mercil McRae for 51 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

 

Mr. McRae was born in Warner Robins, GA to the late Grover Vernice McRae and Mary Betty Davis McRae.  He was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher.  Randy was a 1968 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and an alumna of Valdosta State College.  He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the US Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post #3.  Randy retired from Ford Motor Credit and served as a detective with the Valdosta (GA) Police Department.  He was a former commissioner and treasurer of the Canebreak Fire Department.  He also was a member of the Rotary International and was a Shriner. Randy was a patriot at heart and a dedicated family man.  He loved his Lord, his country, his wife and his family.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Chadwick McRae with wife Hunter, and Joshua McRae; a sister, Betty Lynn Johnson with husband Jimmy; four grandchildren, Ryleigh White, Caitlyn McRae, Lillian McRae, and Vera McRae; a brother-in-law, Joseph Mercil with wife Nola; and two sisters-in-law, Judie Fallon and Mary Smith.  He was predeceased by a son, Chris McRae; a daughter, Christina McRae; a brother, Warren McRae; and a sister, Dawn McRae. 

 

A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be 1 o’clock Wednesday at Pisgah United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Zach Terry.  Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post #3 of Greenville, SC.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
