Obituary of Lenny Green

Please share a memory of Lenny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Leland William “Lenny” Green, 71, husband of Elaine Owens Green for 47 years and 7 days, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Mr. Green was born in Greenville to the late Moss William Green and Patricia Ann Culbertson Green.  He retired from Cryovac and was the owner and operator of The Yard Bar in Fountain Inn.  Lenny enjoyed racing, playing pool, and attending classic car shows; however, his greatest joy was being Pop-Pop to his grandchildren.  Lenny was a personality that will never be replaced, but will always be remembered.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters with their husbands, Lexie and Michael Harvey, and Carly and Jim Long; two sisters with their husbands, Penny and Joe Wood, and Patti and Mike Buchanan; and five grandchildren, Branden Harvey, Leah Harvey, Maddox Long, Brody Long, and Zachary Long.  He was predeceased by a brother, Robin Green.

A Celebration of Lenny’s Life will be 12 noon Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  A procession of classic cars will escort Lenny for one last ride by The Yard, with patrons hoisting a final salute during the pass-bye.  Burial will be at Cannon Memorial Park.

Following the services, a reception in Lenny’s honor will be hosted at The Yard (910 Georgia Street in Fountain Inn).  For those attending the service and/or the reception, this message is straight from Lenny – “To all my friends, we had a good time at the races and cookouts and just getting together.  Keep up the good work and come as you are and have a good time.  Thanks for everything, Lenny”.

Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop 715, 1100 Log Shoals Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
