Obituary of Madison Hines

Please share a memory of Madison to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

“Let the little children come unto me, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven” Matthew 19:14

On Sunday, October 8th, 2023, Madison Ann Hines, age 3, entered heaven, running into the arms of her Savior.  Her love and light were a blessing to all who knew her.

Maddie is the daughter of Chris and Chelsey Hines and the little sister of Carson and Kinsley. She is the maternal granddaughter of Gerald and Teresa Leopard and the paternal granddaughter of Betty Coble (Ken) of Gray Court, South Carolina and Robert Hines (Lisa) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maddie was pure joy.  She loved her family and friends fiercely. When she told you that she loved you, you could tell that she meant it. For such a little person, she gave the biggest hugs, and they were something everyone looked forward to.

She loved dancing and singing songs and adored her siblings.  She was so proud of herself when she could make you laugh with her. Her giggles were contagious.  She loved cheering on the Laurens Academy Crusaders or as she said “potaters.”  Her eyes lit up with excitement when she thought about going to “big school” next year.  She had an intentional sense of humor and loved to make people smile.

Maddie loved Jesus and her Bible.  She was so proud when she memorized her Bible verses and could proclaim them loudly.  Maddie would be the first to tell her Wednesday night teachers that she knew her weekly verses.  Her love for her God was so evident even at such a young age.  Maddie and her family are members of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Maddie was a member of Awanas at Chestnut Ridge where she was active in the choir praise team, vacation bible school, and Sunday School.

Maddie will also be remembered as a very special little girl with a tremendous heart for others.  In Christ, we place our trust and our sweet Maddie.

In addition to her parents, her brother and sister and her grandparents, Maddie is survived by her uncle, Auston Leopard, and her cousins, Hudson and Maisie of Gray Court. Her great- grandparents, Jerry and Nancy Rook of Laurens, and Eunice Leopard of Gray Court.  Godparents Stewart and Kelly Jones and daughters, Lillie and Emma of Laurens.

Maddie was predeceased by her great-grandfather, Horace Leopard and a cousin, Brandon Rook.

On October 14, 2019, at 1:58 pm, God gave us a precious little girl and on her fourth birthday, this Saturday, we will celebrate her beautiful life.  Services will be held at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm with visitation immediately following the service.  A private burial will follow. The Reverend Alex D. Henderson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Maddie’s grandfathers and her brother. The family has suggested that attendees may wear bright happy colors to celebrate Maddie’s life.

The family wishes to thank the first responders, Prisma Health Medical Staff, Robin Thomason, a bystander who performed CPR, our Laurens Academy Family, Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and many other churches and the praying community in the area for the love and outpouring of support during this tragic time in our lives. We are forever thankful.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Maddie to Chestnut Ridge Childrens’ Ministry, 499 Chestnut Ridge Road, Laurens, South Carolina, 29360.
