Obituary of Carrie Coley

Carrie Elizabeth Watson Coley, 89, widow of Harold Brunson Coley, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

 

Mrs. Coley was born in Enoree to the late Clarence Evans Watson and Naomi Strickland Watson.  She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church and attended Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church.  Carrie worked as a Kindergarten teacher for over 30 years at Baldwin Nursery & Kindergarten before founding Coley’s Daycare from which she retired.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed chocolates.  Carrie was a fan of the Clemson Tigers, the Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR.  She collected Angel figurines and cherished being Nanny to all those who knew her.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Annette Chappell with husband Roger; three sisters, Eva Craine, Hazel Shumm with husband Jim, and Aline Jordan; two grandsons, Dylan Chappell with wife Caitlyn, and Ruger Chappell; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan Chappell, Dylan Chappell, Jr., Luna Mae Chappell, Jasper Chappell, and Archer Chappell.  She was predeceased by two brothers, C.E. “Junior” Watson, Jr., and Rudolph Watson; and four sisters, Rosie Cooper, Mary Culbertson, Paulette Watson, and Edna Ward.

 

Visitation will be between 4 – 6 o’clock Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

 

Graveside services will be 12 noon Saturday at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
