Obituary of Charlie Hill

Charles Ralph “Charlie” Hill, 73, husband of Nancy Earlene Sullivan Hill for 48 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Mr. Hill was born in Travelers Rest to the late Charles Raymond Hill and Kathryn Marceil McDonald Hill.  He retired from Greenville Water System and worked many Christmas events as Santa Claus.  Charlie was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church where he and Nancy taught Childrens Church together.  He also served as a deacon at Morgan Memorial Baptist Church for many years.  Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, 1SG Nathan Hill, US Army Ret., and Chris Hill with wife Kelley; a sister, Kathy Coker; five grandchildren, Waylon Hill, Iris Hill, Colin Hill, Amara Bolt and Quinn MacNinch; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Jerry Coker.

Graveside services will be 1 o’clock Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Robert Griswold.

Memorials may be made to Meals-on-Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.  The family would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You” to our beloved niece and caregiver Nicole, the staff of Amedisys Hospice, his nurses Kelly and Denise, and CNA Courtney.  Your compassionate care for Charlie will be forever cherished.
