Obituary of Jane Armstrong

Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jane Stutts Armstrong, 86, widow of Wendell  “Wink” Melvin Armstrong, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 4, 2024.

Jane was born in Union, SC to the late John McKinley Stutts and Janie Musgrove Brandon Stutts. She was always very active and seen walking in Fountain Inn most every day. She enjoyed sitting on her screened porch reading, listening to music and sipping on sweet tea; however, she spent most of her free time working in her beautiful garden and loved sharing her flowers with friends and neighbors.  She loved collecting Charleston Sweetgrass Baskets and tea sets and had them proudly displayed in her cottage home. While she loved being outdoors, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren. Jane was affectionately known as Mimi and Ms. Jane to many that knew and loved her. She was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church and believed in being active in church activities and loved her church family. If she wasn’t at home or at church, she was most likely helping friends and neighbors. She had a gift for nurturing and helping others and put it to good use with sincere love in doing so.

She is survived by her son Stutts Armstrong (Sharman), her two grandchildren, Elizabeth Armstrong and Maclean Armstrong and a brother, Barry Stutts (Cathy).  She was predeceased by five brothers; Herbert Stutts, Roy Stutts, Robert Stutts, Johnny Stutts and Lewis Stutts; and four sisters, Helen Corley, Sara Neal, Louise Berry and Peggy Rutherford.

A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be at Fairview Presbyterian Church at 1PM Saturday, February 17th. The family will have a private graveside prayer following the service and then they will receive friends in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Presbyterian Church, 126 Fairview Church Road, Fountain Inn, SC 29644.
