Obituary of James "Coon" Knight

James Edwin “Coon” Knight, 72, husband of the late Holli LaJune Hembree Knight, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Mr. Knight was born in Fountain Inn to the late James Henry Knight and Bessie Ilene Thackston Knight.  He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he and June sang gospel songs together.  Coon retired from Cherokee Kenworth.  He could fix just about anything and took great pride in a project of building his own motorcycle.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the guitar, and Hot-Rod cars.  Coon was a collector of shot-glasses.  He and June made over 25 trips to Disney World throughout their marriage.

Surviving are two sons, Jamie Knight (Beth) and Josh Knight (Becky); four sisters, Betty Smith, Doris Morgan, Edna “Bo” Reid (Johnny) and Lois Stoddard; a grandson, Jesse Knight (Christina); and two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Jase.  He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Knight; and a sister, Mary “Bud” Fuller.

A Celebration of Coon’s Life will be 1 o’clock Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park.
