Obituary of Bill Woods

Bill Claude Woods, 94, husband to the late Nevie Vaughn Woods, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024.

Mr. Woods was born in Greenville to the late John Claude Woods and Ethel Smith Woods. He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church and retired from Snipes Construction after 45 years. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed singing, vegetable gardening and could fix just about anything. Bill was a hard working man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughter, Gail Ballew; a brother, Lewis Woods with wife Louise; three grandchildren, Brandon Osborne and wife Malarie, Shannon Ballew and wife Karen, and Angela Staton; five great-grandchildren, Justin Ballew, Miranda Ballew, Dalton Ballew, Taylor Staton with wife Faith, and Devon Staton; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Janice Osborne; a son-in-law, Ricky Ballew; two brothers, Wayne Woods and George Woods; and two sisters, Helen Peden and Gertrude Milton.

The family will receive friends 5-7pm Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock Thursday at Hillside Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Eddie Howard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
