Obituary of Carolyn Knighton McAlister

Carolyn “Nanny” Knighton McAlister, 84, widow of Donald Lee Knighton and, wife to Dean McAlister, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

 

Mrs. McAlister was born in Woodruff, S.C. to the late James Gordon Few and Ruby Elizabeth Banks. She grew up on Mills Mill Textile Village. She attended Westside Grammar School and Woodruff High School.  She was a dental assistant with Edward McCallum for 25 plus years in Greenwood, S.C and, a furniture salesperson with Helig Meyers in Greenwood, S.C. for about 10 years. She was a founding member of Cedarwood Community Church in Waterloo, S.C. She loved participating in all functions of the church. She enjoyed attending to her flowers in the yard, watching birds, going shopping with daughter and greatgrandchildren, and reading her Bible. Her greatest joy was being a Nanny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Surviving are husband, Dean McAlister of Simpsonville, S.C.; daughter, Kim Knighton Wilson (Scott) of Braselton, Ga.; brother, Gordon “Buddy” Few (Cheryl) in Woodruff, S.C.; a sister, Terry Lynn Dickerson (Dennis) of Greer, S.C.; sister-in-law, Kathy Few of Simpsonville, S.C. stepdaughters Tracie M. Molizon (Ray) of Simpsonville, S.C., Tiffani M. Smith (Bill) of Greenville, S.C., and Dean McAlister II(Lori) of Greer, S.C. Covington, Ga. She had 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by two sisters Rene’ Alexander, Martha June Few; and one brother Alvin Few.

Visitation is at noon at Fletcher’s Funeral home in Fountain Inn, S.C. with funeral services at 1 pm. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood SC at 3pm. All Friends and family are welcome.
