Obituary of Andrew Washington Burgess

Andrew “Andy” Washington Burgess III, 65, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.

 

Mr. Burgess was born in Greenville to the late Andrew Washington Burgess and Dorothy Jones Burgess.  He was a longtime employee of Ashmore Bros, Inc.  For many years, he was a supervisor at Woodside Mills in Greenville and later at Estes in Piedmont.  Andy enjoyed golf and was an avid USC Gamecock fan.  He will forever be “PaPa” to his beloved grandkids. 

 

Surviving are two daughters, Angie Fennell, and Melissa Burgess and husband Tim King; a son, Andrew Burgess and wife Amy Plude; three brothers, Sammy Burgess, Jerry Burgess and wife Rhonda, and Larry Burgess; four sisters, Norma Jean Simmons, Alice Burgess, Kathy Burgess and JoAnn Carter and husband Leon; eight grandchildren, Darion, Tamia, and Hanna King, Bryson and Braylan Fennell, Drew, Blake and Lillyahna Plude.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Donald Ray Burgess, Lawrence Burgess, and James Burgess; and a sister, Christine Sutherland.

 

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

 

A Celebration of Andy’s Life will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Springs Baptist Church (371 Sandy Springs Road in Pelzer), officiated by Rev. Dan Green.  Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will be at the home, 256 W. Chapman Road in Belton.
