-----------------------------------
Mamie Adlyne Eaves Bailey, 88, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away on July 2, 2021.
Mamie was born in Union County, SC, a daughter of the late Nellie Linder Inman and Henry Elbert Eaves. She graduated from Union High School. In May of 1956 she married William Dwight Bailey of Union. The two of them began their lifetime adventure together by immediately driving to California where Dwight was stationed in the Navy in San Diego. She was enlisted in the US Naval Reserve and was honorably discharged fours years later.
While living in California, she worked at Pacific Bell Telephone Company. After their return to South Carolina, she spent her time as a stay at home mother, worked part time jobs occasionally, and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 17 years as a rural mail carrier. She lived her life with the mindset of doing for others. She enjoyed many years teaching children's Sunday School and provided community service by teaching literacy, serving as a hospice volunteer, and making deliveries with Dwight for Meals On Wheels. She was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church and also appreciated and enjoyed Earle Street Baptist Church . She had a lifetime delight in cooking, baking, and making jellies, jams and pickles, as well as gardening, watching her flowers blossom, and loving birds of all kinds. She was also a great planner of many family vacation adventures that left cherished memories. In their retirement, she and Dwight enjoyed several national and international trips to see many places of God's big multi-colored world.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, William Mark Bailey (Suzi), David Jonathan Bailey (Tina); daughter, Susan Eaves Bailey (Rob Curran); granddaughter, Savannah Kate Cabán (Will); great granddaughter, Charlotte Lloyelise Cabán; Savannah's mother, Karen Bailey Smith;
brother, Julian Bobby Eaves (Faye); and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by two sisters Betty McNeace and Sara Lewis.
