Obituary of Jerry Hopkins Suggs

Jerry Hopkins Suggs, 81, husband of Janet Elizabeth Fowler Suggs for 41 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
Mr. Suggs was born in Greenville to the late Leonard Rex Suggs Sr. and Eddie Bell Crane Suggs. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Cryovac. He was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church. Jerry was an avid fan of the Clemson Tigers and had an extensive collection of Clemson hats. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and hamburger steak with onions and gravy. He loved his family and cherished being “PaPa Jerry” to his grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Schleen Moon, Lisa Sammons, and Kristi Pulliam and husband Chad; a son, Robert Fowler and wife Starla; eight grandchildren, Travis Moon and wife Carrie, Jennifer Rose Brocklehurst; Cassie Rainey and husband Buddy, Brittany Williamson, Cole Johnson and wife Kelsey, Hannah Scott, Will Burroughs and wife Stephanie, and Bryson Fowler; and seven great-grandchildren, Fred, Hailey, Jace, Hayden, Owen, Colton and Tanner. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rex Suggs Jr. and Joe Suggs; and four sisters, Thelma Gagnon, Carolyn Dixon, Kathryn Kennymore and Dora Hood.
Funeral services, with Military Honors, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bessie Road Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
