Dear Van, Walker and Matthew: I am so very sad to hear of June’s passing, but know she is happy in Heaven and watching and guiding you until you meet again. I have great memories of June at Montreat one summer when we shared a makeshift bedroom on a screened porch with many teenagers and a couple other adults. To the entire Broad family, my condolences. I was shocked to read of June's passing in the GJ. I first met June shortly after moving here to work for a local defense contractor about 24 years ago. June was very professional, dedicated to protecting the public's interest. But more than that, she was one of the fairest, nicest, and upbeat persons I have ever met in her field, and in general. Our adversarial (by design) yet cooperative working relationship continued over the next two decades, and two companies, with her representing the government's and public's interests throughout Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, and me, a contractors'. Despite our opposing roles, I never held anything but the highest respect and regard for her, as June always was all about doing the right thing. Van, Matt, Walker, Eddie, and families, I mourn her passing with you. June was private about her personal life; but on those occasions when she did speak of you all she absolutely glowed; so I can't even imagine the love you all had for her, and the loss you must be currently feeling. In addition to the USG's, June has always been on God's A team; only now, she is doing her job from heaven, checking the books, as she awaits your reunion. Barbara and I have you all in our prayers.

Van, may you and your family feel the love of our Father's arms around you to give you comfort that only He can provide at this time. I am saddened of our earthly loss, but rejoice as June is now with our Heavenly Father. Even though June and I were separated by miles and each of our life journeys would take us in different directions as we grew older, June was and will always remain my best childhood friend. Her laughter was contagious and I still remember trips with her where we would drive our parents crazy because we could not stop laughing. Her faith was deep and it would be by her side that I would receive my greatest gift of all - the gift of salvation. I thank God for our friendship and I thank you and your precious family for giving her so much love and happiness for many years. May God's peace be with you.

We are truly heart broken. June was an absolutely amazing woman and a wonderful joy to be around. Shannon and I greatly enjoyed the time that we have gotten to spend with her.
