Obituary of Iber Valasco Tripp

Please share a memory of Iber to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Iber Valasco Tripp (83) passed away on August 10, 2021. The son of the late Elmer J. T. Tripp and Ivy Mae Hair Tripp, he was born February 17, 1938 in Blackville, SC, a town named for his great-grandfather. Iber is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Hughes Tripp, the love of his life. He is also survived by his daughters Beth Tripp Moss (Glenn), and Blair Tripp; and three grandchildren: Eric, Miriam, and Ivy Moss. Seldom idle, Iber worked for most of his life. His jobs ranged from delivering newspapers, driving a school bus, to making cabinets, and operating his own grading business – Iber Tripp Grading. Later he worked for Spartanburg County Roads Division eventually becoming supervisor of the Spartanburg County Sign Shop from which he retired in 2018. In the late 1950s to the early 1960s, Iber also served in the United States Marine Reserves, acquiring the Marine haircut that he kept for the remainder of his days! For many years Iber participated in the Jaycees, and he was a charter member in the Antique Automobile Club of America, Greenville Region. More recently he was active in the Foothills Antique Power Association. He delighted in showing his 1953 David Bradley Tri Trac that he owned since he bought it new when he was only 15. There was nothing he couldn’t make and nothing he couldn’t fix. Visitation with family will be held at Fletcher Funeral Service in Fountain Inn, SC, Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 5-7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at Simpsonville First Baptist Church Chapel, Monday, August 16 at 3:00 pm.
