Obituary of Patricia Carrigan Matthews

Pat C. Matthews, 65, wife of Douglas Matthews for 31 years, died Monday, August 23, 2021. Mrs. Matthews is the beloved mother of her four surviving sons: Todd, Joey, Andrew, and Eric Matthews. Pat never wavered in her dedication to her sons, and they have never wavered in their love for her. Pat single-mindedly focused on their education and success, and they have always striven to make her proud. Pat worked very hard to make her sons' lives possible, and they only regret that they did not have more time with her. The world is a smaller place without her. Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Matthews. Doug would attempt to fix anything, and he adored his wife. She is also preceded in death by her loving parents, Gordon and Veneriece. Pat visited her parents whenever she could and would always leave her mother with a kiss on her forehead. Pat was a kind, generous, and loving person. She enjoyed the Peanuts comics, many-things-Disney, buying silly gifts for her sons, and winning card games against them. She loved geology, sailing, and taking vacations with her family. She especially enjoyed playing with her wonderful granddaughter, Nala. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Fletcher Funeral Service.
