Walter Scott Neal, Sr., 61, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021.
Mr. Neal was born in Fitchburg, MA to the late Carl Doris Neal and Elizabeth May Jones Neal. He was a carpenter by trade. Walt used his talents working for various charities throughout his life. He volunteered for Toys-for-Tots and raised over 1200 pounds of pet food to be disbursed to Meals-on-Wheels recipients so that their animals could eat as well. He was a huge fan of NASCAR and collected racing memorabilia. Walt enjoyed fishing and participating in chili cookoffs.
Surviving are a son, Walt Neal, Jr.; a step-daughter, Shannon R Yarborough; seven brothers, Carl Neal and wife Carol, Steve Neal, Bob Neal and wife Diane, Les Neal and wife Ann, George Neal and wife Diane, John Neal and wife Amy, and James Neal and wife Kathy; two sisters, Sandra Matthewson and husband Claude, and Alice Wellams; a brother-in-law, Danny Martin; two granddaughters, Catherine Roe and Krista Clark; and his beloved parrot Henry. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Martin.
A Celebration of Walt’s Life will be held at 6 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends for an hour and a half prior to the service. Following the service, the family will make their way to Walt’s home-away-from-home, The Station in Simpsonville.
