Obituary of Ivy Ballew Abbott

Ivy Omalee Ballew Abbott, 88, widow of T.C. Abbott, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Mrs. Abbott was born in Simpsonville to the late Dillard Bud Ballew and Catherine Virginia Kirby Ballew. She retired from Fiber Industries and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Ivy enjoyed traveling, cooking and sewing. She cherished being “MaMa” to her grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, Tommy Abbott (Rhonda) and Kent Abbott (Michelle); two daughters, Cleva Garner (Porter) and Judy Howard; a brother, Kirby Ballew (Thelma); two sisters, Jean Smith and Caroline Garrison; a son-in-law, Machen Clark; seven grandchildren, Heather Bradshaw; Scottie Howard (Jennifer), Jody Morales (Luis), Christopher McHone, Beth Bladon (Justin), Leigh Garner, and Katie Dills (Conor); and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Clark; a brother, Charles Ballew; and a sister, Martha Brown. Graveside services will be 11 o’clock Wednesday at the Simpsonville City Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Russ Chambers. The service will be broadcast through Facebook Live on the account of Beth Garner Bladon. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Angela Williams.
