Obituary of Leta Harkness Sutherland

Leta Byrene Harkness Sutherland, 91, widow of Walter Lee Sutherland, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Mrs. Sutherland was born in Prescott, KS to the late Byron Harkness and Nellie May Pruitt Harkness. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Pelzer. She was survived by three sons, Ron Sutherland and wife Wendy, Dan Sutherland and wife Sue, and Tim Sutherland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marilyn Eshelman; three brothers, Lee Harkness, Halsey Harkness and K. Harkness; and two sisters, Bonnie White and Thelma Harkness. Receiving of friends will be Saturday October 2, 2021 from 2-2:30pm at Grace Baptist Church, Pelzer. A Celebration of Leta’s Life will follow immediately at 2:30pm Saturday at the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 8841 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC 29699.
