Obituary of Guy Thomas Taylor, Jr

Guy Taylor, Jr., 88, husband of Martha Ann Taylor for 68 years, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 23, 2021 in the Agape Care Facility in Columbia, SC from complications due to Covid after a period of declining health. Mr. Taylor was born in Spartanburg County to the late Guy Thomas Taylor, Sr. and Nelle Avinger Taylor. He retired after 50 years of service from Milliken and Company and was a former fireman with Cross Anchor Volunteer Fire Department for many years, serving as fire chief for a number of those. Guy was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War years and was a member of Cross Anchor Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife are a daughter, Elizabeth Taylor Phillips and her husband Ralph, of Moore, SC and a grandson, Bradford Phillips of Charlotte, NC. He was predeceased by two sisters, Gladys Taylor Lindler and Gayle Taylor Willis. Graveside Services, with Military Honors will be 1pm Saturday at Cross Anchor Yarborough United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to his nephew, Jason Willis and his wife Karen for helping the family during Guy’s time of declining health. Upon request, the family is asking everyone to please wear a mask and practice social distancing during the service.
