Obituary of Robert Allen Closson

Robert “Bob” Allen Closson, 70, husband of Loucinda “Cindy” Ann Ashby Closson for 26 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 25, 2021. Mr. Closson was born in Fairmont, WV to the late LeRoy Jr. Closson and Edith Rae Fetty Closson. He was a veteran of the US Army. Before moving to South Carolina, Bob was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church in Fairmont, WV. He and Cindy are now members of Bible Baptist Church where he was actively involved in the Young at Hearts and Sunny Seniors groups. He enjoyed high school football, riding motorcycles, camping and fishing. As a hobby he collected southern gospel hats. His greatest love and blessing was being “Papaw” to Sophia, Landon and Logan. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Chris Closson, Robin Dwyer, and Kelli Pretlove with husband Daniel; two brothers, Dave Closson with wife Pam, and John Closson; and five grandchildren, Zach Byrnes, Devin Byrnes, Sophia Pretlove, Landon Pretlove and Logan Pretlove. He was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Closson. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3pm Friday at Bible Baptist Church. A Celebration of Bob’s Life, with military honors, will begin at 3 o’clock in the chapel of Bible Baptist Church. Burial will be at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
