Obituary of Joel Stephen Chandler

Joel Stephen Chandler, 62, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 15, 2021. Mr. Chandler was born in Greenville to the late James Alvin Chandler Sr. and Doris Evelyn Bailey Chandler. Joel was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville where he actively served as a part of Prayer, Hospital, and Prison ministry. He also served at Home of the Heart where he often shared his testimony. Joel enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of Full Throttle Bike ministry. He also was a lifetime member of the Gun Shop in Simpsonville. He also volunteered at the Simpsonville Police Department for fund raising events. He especially enjoyed the “ride alongs” with officers that became friends. Joel had a big heart and light hearted sense of humor. He loved making people laugh. Joel mostly cherished spending time with his family and being “Popcorn” to his grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie Martin and Samantha Chandler; a son, Travis Chandler; son in-law, Bobby Day; and a brother James “Jimmy” Chandler, Jr.; six grandchildren, Arianna Day, Ella Day, Krista Chandler, Elijah Miller, Charlie Chandler and Abel Miller. A Celebration of Joel’s Life will be 2 o’clock Saturday in the chapel of First Baptist Church Simpsonville. The family will receive friends from 12:30- 2pm in the chapel.
