Obituary of Tommie Herman Walker, Jr.

Tommie “Herman” Walker, Jr., 91, husband of Willie Mae Mitchell Walker for 70 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Mr. Walker was born in Edgefield County to the late Tommie Herman Walker, Sr. and Ellen Verna Dorn Walker. He was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church. He retired from the SC Highway Department and was the owner of T.H. Walker, Jr. Surveying. Herman was a member of Walden Masonic Lodge #274, AFM, where he served as the Worshipful Master in 1961. He was the oldest Past Master of the Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Brice Walker with wife Beth; two daughters, Vickie Jameson with husband Raymond, and Pam Bartley with husband Rob; a sister, Julia Jordan with husband Wyman Hallman; seven grandchildren, Cecilia Brock with husband Jon, Daniel McHone with wife Tonya, Jason Bartley with wife Calinia, Karen Rowland with husband Bryan, Brittany Jacobson with husband Wes, Blake Walker, and Tyler Walker; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Tommie Herman “Buddy” Walker III. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Graveside services will be 2 o’clock Friday at McKendree United Methodist Church cemetery, Highway 378 Edgefield, SC.
