Obituary of Evelyn Knight Rhodes

Vera Evelyn Knight Rhodes, 95, widow of Dewey Matthew Rhodes, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Anderson County to the late Harry Warren Knight, Sr. and Vera Mae Cantrell Knight. She retired from Inman Mills and was the oldest-living member of Greenpond Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, ceramics, cooking, and arts and crafts. She collected China dolls and made patch-work quilts for everyone. She adored her grandson “Tim”…he was her world! Surviving are a son, Dusty Rhodes and wife Brenda; a daughter, Marlene West and husband Monk; a grandson, Tim West and wife Lorie; four great-grandchildren, Savannah West and fiancé, Dillon Taylor, Maddie West, Austin Simpson, and Katelin Simpson and fiancé Logan Samples; and a beloved sister-in-law, Margaret Knight. She was predeceased by six brothers, Leo Knight, Dwight Knight, Duane Knight, Victor Knight, Jack Knight, and Harry Knight, Jr. The family will receive friends between 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service – Woodruff. A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be 3 o’clock Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Dick Williams. Burial will be in Greenpond Memorial Cemetery.
