Obituary of Gene Autrey Hoglen

Gene Autrey Hoglen, 81, husband of Peggy Dowdle Hoglen for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Mr. Hoglen was born in Franklin, NC to the late Everett Hoglen and Hallie Stiles Hoglen. He retired from N.B. Handy and was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. Gene served from 1958-1964. The statement “Once a Marine, always a Marine” was the way he proudly lived his life every day. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Kevin Hoglen and wife Terri of Piedmont and Michael Hoglen and wife Tamara of Fort Walton Beach, FL; a sister in-law, Frankie Stiles Cowsert and husband Bobby; seven grandchildren, Tabitha Talbert, Allison Hoglen, Christian Hoglen, Leah Cooper, Lee Williams, Jennifer Maines and Jessica Ratliff; eight great-grandchildren, Dallas Talbert, Amayah Nelson, Jameson Hafner, Dawson Hoglen, Michelle Cooper, Austin Williams, Lexi Williams, Diem Maines, and Tatum Kent; and many loving niece and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, RL Hoglen, Ted Hoglen, JB Hoglen, Harrel Hoglen, Wilburn Hoglen, and Jack Hoglen. A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be at 1pm Thursday at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. Fletcher Funeral Service- Fountain Inn
