Obituary of Thea Thompson

Thea Dale Tucker Thompson, 74, loyal wife of Jackie N. Thompson for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 3, 2022. Mrs. Thompson was born in Laurens County to the late Frank and Una Mae Tucker. She made friends with too many to count at her jobs with Jostens, Laurens County Hospital, and the Laurens County Administrative Office, from which she retired. She was a lifelong member of Dials United Methodist Church in Gray Court. Thea enjoyed bus trips that her mother Una Mae organized, and traveled with her to many areas all over the United States. She was a self-taught photographer and documented every aspect of life with her beloved camera. She loved bird watching and fed the birds year-round. Thea was also an avid Elvis fan from childhood. Her most favorite thing above all else (other than family) was going to the beach. Surviving are her husband, Jackie Thompson; a son, Chris Thompson and wife Barbara; a sister, Joy Mundy; two grandchildren, Lindsay Brown and husband Jonathan, and Justin Thompson and wife Amanda; a great-grandchild, Eliza Grace Brown; another great-grandchild on the way due in May; and two nephews, Todd Tucker and Josh Mundy. A private family graveside will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday at Dials UMC cemetery, officiated by Agape Hospice Chaplain Pastor Dwight Wagner.
