Obituary of Donald Edward Rhodes, Sr.

Donald Edward “Donnie” Rhodes, Sr. of Laurens, 85, went to be Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Mr. Rhodes was born in Woodruff to the late Luther Rhodes and Geneva Griffin Rhodes. Donnie retired from Beaunit Mills in Fountain Inn and was the owner of Buddy Cox Cleaner’s in Woodruff. He loved to tell jokes and sing gospel music. He was an avid USC and NASCAR fan. Donnie mostly loved his family and being “Papa” to his grandchildren. Surviving is a son, Eddie Rhodes of Laurens; a daughter, Vickie Easterling of Fountain Inn; four grandchildren, Casey Easterling Campbell and husband Brian, Kyle Adair, Cory Rhodes and Jonathan Rhodes; great-grandson, Brayden Turner; two sisters, Barbara Bowlin with husband Robert of Simpsonville, and Kay Davis with husband John of Laurens; two brothers, Mike Weatherford with wife Vicki of Laurens and Kenneth Rhodes of Clinton. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Dee Adair; and two brothers Jerrell Rhodes and Terry Rhodes. A Celebration of Donnie’s Life will be 2 o’clock Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service officiated by Rev. James Owens. The family will receive friends an hour prior.
