Obituary of Jackie Nathaniel Thompson

Jackie Nathaniel Thompson, 76, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2022, where he was reunited with his wife of 59 years, Thea Thompson. Mr. Thompson was born in Greenville County to the late Troy and Margie Thompson. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and was retired from 3M in Laurens County. In his youth, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. As an adult, he joined Dials United Methodist Church in Gray Court. In his younger years, Jackie played softball in several local leagues. He enjoyed boating with his family at Lake Greenwood and Lake Jocassee. Jackie also had a love for John Deere tractors and enjoyed riding his own. He was a licensed ham radio operator and spent his spare time participating in amateur radio. Jackie also loved listening to country music and watching old time Westerns. Jackie is predeceased by his wife Thea T. Thompson, and a sister, June Laughton. Surviving are a son, Chris Thompson and wife Barbara; two grandchildren, Lindsay Brown and husband Jonathan, and Justin Thompson and wife Amanda; a great-grandchild, Eliza Grace Brown; another great-grandchild on the way due in May; a special sister-in-law, Joy Mundy, and nephews Todd Tucker and Josh Mundy. A private family graveside will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday at Dials UMC cemetery, officiated by Agape Hospice Chaplain Pastor Dwight Wagner.
