Obituary of James Andrew Isbell

James Andrew “Izzy” Isbell, 64, husband of Linda Kay Hopkins Isbell for 22 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 31, 2022. Mr. Isbell was born in St. Georges Parish, Hamilton, Bermuda (Kindley AFB) to the late Hal Gene Isbell and Mary Lynn Cole Isbell. He was a graduate of Greenville Technical College and retired from General Electric. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; where he was forever nicknamed Izzy. He was a huge fan of the Grateful Dead and was proud to be a “dead head.” Izzy had varied interests and was known for throwing himself wholeheartedly into his latest project. He was a winemaker, licensed HAMM operator, private aviation pilot, guitar maker and recording technician. He also enjoyed music, sailboats, motorcycles, star gazing through a telescope, and cultivating Bonsai trees. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, David Wyatt and wife Rhonda; two daughters and their husbands, Katrina and Dave Burns, and Jenny and Matt Linder; ten grandchildren, Chris Wyatt and wife Caryn, Danielle Wyatt, Sarah Zelaya and husband Antony, Austin Burns, Katelyn Boiter, Noah Boiter, Abbee Burns, Koral Wyatt, Oceania Wyatt, and Charlie Burns; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John Isbell; and a sister, Pat Isbell. Memorials may be made to Joy International, P.O. Box 571, Conifer, CO 80433. A Celebration of James’ Life, with Military Honors, will be 3pm Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 3848 Highway 101 N, Gray Court, SC 29645.
