Obituary of Dorcas Sawyer Dove

Dorcas L. ( DEE ) Dove went home to be with her Lord on December 11, 2021. She was born April 17,1938 in Evanston, IL. Dee lived in several states while growing up some of her favorite childhood memories were on a farm In Massachusetts. She graduated from Central High School in McPherson, KS and soon after went to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO where she met the love of her life, Wally.
They raised three daughters Sheri, Tina, and Karen in Orange County, CA . Dee earned an electronics technician certificate and attended Berean Baptist Church. She used her talents of designing handmade puppets and creating skits for children’s ministry. One of Dee’s favorite evangelistic methods was producing chalk portraits of heaven and Bible events. In 1974, they moved to Wisconsin and enjoyed spending time with Wally’s relatives for many years. Dee also worked in various jobs to provide for their family and to share God’s love with others.
In 1989, Dee and Wally moved to Houston, TX to spend time with her mother Dona, her sister Sandra and family. Then in 1998, they moved to Florida where they continued their ministry while Dee was a nurses aid. In 2005, they moved to Simpsonville, SC to be near their daughter Tina and family. Dee and Wally became active members of Calvary Baptist Church, the Senior Gems, and participated in neighborhood Bible studies. She was blessed with special friends in her later years which brought her much joy in life. Dee was a gifted artist who enjoyed expressing herself through painting, ceramics, and gardening.
Some of her accomplishments include writing and illustrating a souvenir historical coloring book and designing and making the high school bulldog mascot costume for New London, WI. Dee helped write her husband Wally’s life story and production for Pacific Garden Mission and worldwide “Unshackled!” Radio Program. She was Wally’s biggest encourager and supporter throughout their life together.
She is survived by her three daughters, Sheri West , Tina McInnis (GaryMcInnis), and
Karen Dove-Tamulaitis (Jim Tamulaitis).
Her sister Sandra Carlson (Dennis Carlson), nephews Dennis, Jerry, and Todd, niece Jill and their families. Her 10 grandchildren Jonathan West, Rachel Krolik (Koa Krolik), Emily West, Brittany Neese (Philip Neese), Brett McInnis (Samantha McInnis), Bethany Shull (Geoff Shull), Evan Tamulaitis, James Tamulaitis, Paxton and Maggie (McInnis). Seven Great-Grand children, Gabriel West, Lily Neese, Esther Neese, Paul Neese, Irene Neese ,Theodore (Teddy) Shull, and Rayla Shull.
A Celebration of Life will be 11 o'clock Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church, 3810 Grandview Drive Simpsonville, SC 29680.
