Obituary of Jesse Edward Major

Jesse Edward Major, 68, of Greenville, SC, passed away at home on March 5th after a brief illness. He was born in Greenville to the late Ruth Ravan Major and Edward Major. He graduated from Carolina High School and had continuing education through the South Carolina Fire Academy. Jess spent his career in the service of his community through the fire service. His various positions included Assistant Chief at Gantt Fire Department under Chief B.L. Hendricks and Fire Chief for the Simpsonville Fire Department. In 2007, he served as President of the Greenville County Fire Chiefs Association. His professional goal in life was the advancement of the fire service and the protection of the men in his department and the citizens of his district. A Celebration of Jess’ Life will be 2 o’clock Saturday, March 12th at Fletcher Funeral Service. He was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville. He is survived by his wife Judy; two daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) and Jackie; and three grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, and Jack.
