Obituary of Floyd Evins Simmons

Floyd “Head” Evins Simmons, 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Mr. Simmons was born in Switzer, SC to the late Ernest Virgil Simmons and Sara Elizabeth Rice Simmons. He was a retired brick mason. He was a veteran of the US Army. His service included drill instructor duties and two tours in Vietnam with the 82nd Airborne Division. Head enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt track racing. Surviving is a son, Guy Simmons; two brothers, Virgil Simmons with wife Debo, and Roger Simmons; a sister, Linda Bragg; two grandchildren, Caroline Edmondson with husband Paul, and Sara Grace Simmons; and a great-granddaughter, Jolie Mae Edmondson and another great-granddaughter on the way. He was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Phillips. A Celebration of Head’s Life will be 2:30 Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service, Woodruff Branch. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30pm. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Park.
