Obituary of Juanita Stone

Jessie Juanita Wells Stone, 95, widow of Carroll DeRoy Stone, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Mrs. Stone was born in Laurens to the late Clemmon Carlisle Wells and Nannie Floree Martin Wells. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the Lily Chapman Sunday School Class. She retired from Kemet Electronics. Juanita enjoyed shopping, reading, and sitting on the porch watching the cars go by. She was a huge fan of Duke University Basketball; however, she was the biggest fan of her “Greats”. Surviving are three daughters, DeNan Porterfield with husband Jim, Elaine Powell, and Carla Powell; seven grandchildren, Christie Jessee, Matt Stone with wife Lisa, Jamie Porterfield with wife Margaret, Mike Powell with wife Tralane, Melissa Veneable with husband Sean, Denise Taylor with husband Michael, and Ashley Butler with husband Derrick; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a brother-in-law, Lanier Stone. She was predeceased a son, Carol Dean Stone; two sons-in-law, Rick Powell and Jack Powell; a grandson-in-law, Arvin Jessee; two grandsons, Chad Powell and David Stone; and two sisters, Frances Payne and Irene Pinson. A Celebration of Juanita’s Life will be 2 o’clock Sunday at Beulah Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Chris Bryan and Rev. Jayson Payne. The family will receive friends in the church social hall immediately following the service. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
