Obituary of Frances Mayfield Griffith

Frances Cooper Mayfield Griffith, 95, widow of Rev. Charles A. Griffith, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 3, 2017. Mrs. Griffith was born in Laurens County to the late Zaidee Butler and Sallie Stephens Cooper. She retired from Verizon. She was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church and the Ester Sunday School Class. She valued her Christian faith and family most of all and lived a full and happy life. She was fully independent until a month prior to her death. She was a dedicated prayer warrior. If she knew of someone who needed prayer, she prayed for them. Surviving, are a son, Keith Mayfield (Cathy); two daughters, Karen Manning (William) and Jeannie Mahaffey (Gary); a step son, William Griffith (Barbara); two step daughters, June Gregory and Joanne Bradley (Ed); a sister, Dot Parsons; a special nephew, Billy Snow; a sister-in-law, Callie Ruth Mayfield; seven grandchildren, Carla Moody, Kevin Mayfield, Chuck Stoddard (Liz), Seth Stoddard (Jenny), Chris Stoddard (Kaitlin), Ian Mahaffey and Isabella Mahaffey; five step-grandchildren, Richard Gregory (Vickie), Jennie Lemmon (Louis), Debbie Mote, Kathryn McCabe (Mark) and Michael Griffith (Summer); sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, James T. Mayfield; a brother, Paul Cooper and four sisters, Pearl Snow, Lois Brooks, Florence Boyd and Helen Cooper. Funeral Services will be 3pm Sunday in the chapel of Simpsonville First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45pm. Burial will follow at Clear Spring Baptist Church.
