Obituary of Mechelle Erwood Yerkes

Mechelle Renee Erwood Yerkes, 53, wife of Mark C. Yerkes for 22 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2022. Mrs. Yerkes was born in Hickory, NC to the late Tommy Livingston Erwood and Blenda Jean Griffin Erwood. She worked at Apexical. Mechelle enjoyed gardening, singing and dancing. She had an affinity for repurposing antiques and other arts and crafts for various projects. She was a very good cook and loved the ice-cream cakes at Dairy Queen. Mechelle absolutely cherished her children and set the “mom” bar high. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Zack Tisdale and wife Maddie; two daughters, Madison Yerkes and Maebre Yerkes; a brother, Robert Erwood and wife Cindy; a brother-in-law, Randy Lyalls; and her beloved dog Paisley. She was predeceased by a brother, Tommy Erwood; and a sister, Yvonne Lyalls. A Celebration of Mechelle’s Life will be 11 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service – 6995 Highway 101 N, Woodruff, SC 29388 officiated by Rev. Tim Hackett. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials in honor of Mechelle may be made to her daughter’s college fund, c/o Mark Yerkes, 605 Round Street, Woodruff, SC 29388.
