Obituary of Jimmy Charles Sibley

Jimmy Charles Sibley, 81, widower of Rebecca “Becky” Greene Sibley, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Mr. Sibley was born in Newton, MS to the late James Henry Sibley, Jr. and Lenora Wall Sibley. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and alumnus of The University of Southern Mississippi. Jim retired from Phillips Petroleum after 35 years of service. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville and attended the Serving Hearts Sunday school class. Jim was a devoted husband of 45 years to his wife, Becky. He was a loving father, generous provider, humbly served others, and believed in working hard at all he did. He cherished being “Papa” to his grandchildren and leaves a standard and legacy to live by for his family and all that knew him. Surviving are two sons, John Sibley with wife Kimberly and Todd Sibley with wife Jennie; a daughter, Angela McClure with husband Randy; two brothers, Benny Sibley with wife Susan and Henry Sibley with wife Martha; two sisters, Dorothy Williams and Cindy Sibley; ten grandchildren, Alex McClure, Joshua McClure, Brian Cheek, Matthew Cheek, John Sibley II, Anna Sibley, Gabby Sibley, Justin Sibley, Jeremy Sibley, and Emma Sibley. He was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Sibley; brother in-law, George Williams; and two grandchildren, Andrew McClure and Baby McClure. A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will be 1:30pm Friday at First Baptist-Simpsonville (North Auditorium). The family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial will follow at Cannon Byrd Memorial Park.
