Obituary of Martha Lynn Owings

Martha Lynne Owings, 71, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Ms. Owings was born in Greenville to the late Walter DeWitt “Jimmy” Owings and Mildred Elizabeth King Owings. She was an alumnus of the University of South Carolina and Furman University. Lynne taught many years at Ellen Woodside Elementary School before retiring from Greenville County Schools. Tutoring was her passion, and teaching children to read was near and dear to her heart. Lynne was a member of the First Rock Church. She was always a sweet and caring person. Lynne was an avid reader and loved a trip to the beach. She was survived by a sister, Kathy Porter with husband Bram. A private memorial service was held at the family home.
