Ian Scott “Scotty” McEachren, 59, husband of Susan Curley McEachren for 35 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2022. Mr. McEachren was born in Fairport, New York to the late Neil A. McEachren and Janet Potts McEachren. Due to his congenital heart condition, he medically retired from Lonza Corporation in Greenwood, SC. Prior to that, he was employed by Bausch and Lomb in Greenville, SC for 14 years. Mr. McEachren received a bachelor of science degree at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where he majored in chemistry. He undertook graduate studies at The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, in Syracuse, New York. Ian worked as a chemistry laboratory manager and supervisor in both environmental and manufacturing capacities. He was a cheerful and gregarious person who loved his God, family and others. He loved hiking in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State and the waterfalls of North Carolina as well as strolling the Reedy River with his beloved dog, Ferguson. An avid music lover, he especially enjoyed the music of the Grateful Dead, Billy Strings and the Atlanta based band, Men in Blues. Surviving in addition to his wife are two cherished daughters, Colleen and Bonnie, his mother, Janet, brother, Neil, many cousins from Canada and the United States, brothers and sisters in law, and loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Duncan A. McEachren, his father Neil A McEachren, paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs.J.N. McEachren and maternal grandparents, Leon and Pearl Potts. A Celebration of Ian’s Life service will be held at 11 o’clock on Saturday, July 23rd, at Mauldin United Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
