Obituary of Perry Ramsey Greene

Perry Ramsey Greene, 95, husband, for 70 years, of the late Doris Jean Condrey Greene, went to be with the Lord on Saturday July 16, 2022. Mr. Greene was born in Cliffside, NC to the late Nollie David Greene and Florence Estelle “Stella” Ramsey Greene. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy and retired from Duke Power after 35 years of service. Perry was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, SC for 46 years. He served his church faithfully as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member. He enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, and playing horseshoes. He served many years as a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer and also served as a volunteer fireman for the Cane Brake Fire Department. Surviving are two sons, David Greene with wife Fredda and Chris Greene, a daughter, Roberta “Robbie” Laney with husband Mitch. Three brothers, Bob Greene, Bill Greene with wife Brenda, and Ted Greene with wife Ruth and a sister, Oneida German. Five grandchildren, Jeffrey Laney with wife Cassie, Ashley Laney, Kelli Freeman, Kendel Duckworth with husband Kevin, and Katelyn Greene along with nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Alyssa, Kameron, Kaleb, Kody, Gabriel, Michael, Laurel and Kaden. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Greene, two brothers, Herman Greene and Joe Greene and two sisters, Elizabeth Jones and Betty Koon. A Celebration of Perry’s Life will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Hillside Baptist Church. Burial with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00pm. Memorials may be made to Meals-on-Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
