Obituary of Billy Burch Wheless

Billy Burch Wheless, 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Mr. Wheless was born in Lincolnton, GA to the late Rev. Hugh Frank Wheless and Cora Allene Angel Wheless. He was a veteran of the US Airforce and member of New Hope Baptist Church. Billy enjoyed bowling, road trips and going to dinner with his friends. He was an avid Braves and Clemson fan and enjoyed watching baseball and football. Billy was known for his patient, kind hearted, non-judgement disposition. Surviving are two daughters, Tina Jones with husband Jeff and Gina Ackerman; three grandchildren, Maggie Jones, Jessica Ackerman and Jamie Ackerman; three great-grandchildren; and beloved niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife and love of his life for 55 years, Virginia Beaman Wheless; one daughter, Tammy Hughey; two grandchildren, Michael Hughey and Jennifer Hughey Bensch; Billy was the last living of five brothers and four sisters. Funeral services with military honors will be held 1pm Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
