Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry J. Burrow III was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 30th, 2022 at the age of 70 years old. Henry was a brilliant thinker who was well versed in a wide array of topics that ranged from the best recipe for snapping turtle soup to the complicated principles of aeronautical engineering. He loved working with his hands whether it was taking apart an engine or playing his harmonica (so much so that he got the nickname “Harmonica Hank.”) Henry was passionate about teaching and took every opportunity to share his knowledge with those around him. It was often said that he never met a stranger, and he had countless one-liners to help break the ice. One of his favorites was telling people, “Excuse me…. You dropped your smile!” Above all, he was unashamed in his proclamation of Jesus Christ’s love for lost sinners. Henry was born on December 2nd 1951 in Chicago, IL to the late Henry J. Burrow, Jr. and Erna Linnea Lindberg Burrow. In 1979 he married his beautiful wife Kathy “with a K” at Faith Baptist in Church where he was a member for 25+ years. Henry worked for many years as a draftsman, was a lifelong member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and was a licensed ham radio operator using the call sign N4ECY. He was actively involved in mentoring high school students in robotics and engineering, but most importantly, he made a meaningful difference in their lives for eternity. He thoroughly enjoyed brainstorming with his family and friends about his latest inventions, and he excelled at coming up with creative solutions for unique problems. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy Swokowski Burrow; his six children Esther Gambrell (Michael) of Taylors, SC; Matthew Burrow (Rachel) of Taylors, SC; Philip Burrow of Los Angeles, CA; Joy Bidwell (Joshua) of Danielsville; GA, Bethany Beck (Brandon) of Archdale, NC; and James Burrow (Stephanie) of Simpsonville, SC; his three sisters Sharon Burrow of Lombard, IL; Marlene Craft of Talladega, AL; Lori MacKinney (Peter) of Wichita, KS. He was the proud Papa of 20 grandchildren: Leona Burrow, Ali Burrow, Kara Bidwell, Ethan Bidwell, Maggie Burrow, Aaron Bidwell, James Gambrell, Ella Bidwell, Titus Burrow, Selah Gambrell, Penny Bidwell, Baron Beck, Teddy Burrow, Hope Gambrell, Nathaniel Bidwell, Ryan Beck, John Gambrell, Daisy Bidwell, Callia Beck, and Liam Burrow.
