Obituary of Gary Melvin Scheer

Gary Melvin Scheer, age 84, husband of Lois Boyd Scheer of 56 years went to his forever home, Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Gary was born October 28, 1937 to Harvey and Margaret Scheer in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in the Minnesota State Parks where his dad worked for the state as park manager. He graduated from Hinckley High School in MN in 1955. Following high school, he joined the US Marine Corp that November and trained as an Air Traffic Controller, became Sargent and discharged in November of 1958. Then he became a firefighter in cities of Olathe and Leawood, KS. Hired by Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell cooperations as an industrial firefighter. Following retirement, he worked at Lawrence Welk resort hotel in Branson, MO as front desk manager. Gary has always had a love for cars. Gary is survived by his wife, Lois; 4 children, Tamra Blyler (Wayne) of Gray Court, SC, Maurice Scheer (Rob) of Darnestown, MD, David Gibson Scheer (Terri) of Silverdale, WA and Melanie Scheer of Las Vegas, NV; ten grandchildren, Garrett Blyler (Ashlee), Victoria Gay (Nate), Amaya, Makai, Greyson, Tristan and Alex Scheer, Amber Gibson, Ashley Beard (M.K), Jennifer Souders; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Blyler, Piper Beard and Lucy Valdez ; a brother-in-law, Howard Boyd (Kathy) of Branson, MO; a nephew, Isaac Boyd; a niece, Janell Carnahan (Scott); a great-niece Trinity Boyd; great-nephew, Drake Boyd and many cousins, family and friends. A Celebration of Gary’s life, with Military Honors, will be 11am Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Livestream will be available for those who cannot attend.
