Obituary of Billy Joe Cantrell

Billy Joe Cantrell, 75, husband to Sherry Lynn Martin Cantrell for 22 years, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Mr. Cantrell was born in Simpsonville to the late Willie J. Cantrell and Margaret Louise Holcombe Cantrell. Billy was a 1966 Graduate of Hillcrest High School and proudly served his country from 1966 -1970 as a helicopter mechanic and door gunner in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was the shopkeeper of Cantrell Stop and Shop and retired from Cryovac and Kemet Electronics. Billy was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was known for his corny jokes, mischievous mayhem, and humble spirit. Billy lived by a tried-and-true legacy, “God, Family, and Country”. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his daughter, Kasey C. Fowler, two step-daughters, Teresa Howard and Tamara Rae Martin-Morgan (Barry); honorary daughter, Jennifer Martin; five step-sons, Peter Martin, Omar Aguilar (Dawn), Eddie Shirley, Timothy Pecoraro (Amy), and Isaiah Martin; a sister, Patsy Sparrow (Doug); fifteen grandchildren, Bailey Q. Dickert (George), Mason Queen, Jaime Scott (Tyler), Gabriel Pecoraro (Ellie), Austin Shirley (Crystal), Jonas Martin, Luke Pecoraro, Justin Shirley, Lily Rae Martin, Raegan Martin, Eden Pecoraro, Sophie Lynn Martin, Allysa Shirley, and Zoey Grace Martin; four great-grandchildren, Sadie Scott, Miller Dickert, Emmi Scott, Brooks Dickert and two new great-grands in 2023. He was predeceased by his previous wife, Gail M. Cantrell; a son, Korey Cantrell; and a brother, Jerry Cantrell. A celebration of Billy’s life will be 2:00pm, Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Renovation Church, officiated by Rev. Robert Cato where the USMC Honor Guard will present military honors. The family will have a brief receiving of friends immediately following the service.
