Guy Edward Flanagan, 83, husband of Geraldine Lyda Flanagan for 32 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Mr. Flanagan was born in Cornelia, GA to the late John Vance Flanagan, Sr. and Martha Jane Erwin Flanagan. He was a member of Selma Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. Guy retired from Spartanburg County Schools District 4, where he worked at Woodruff Elementary School. He loved to tinker and fix things and also collected knives and watches. Guy’s legacy to his family was being a wonderful husband to Geraldine, whom he loved with all his heart. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Marie Gunnells with husband Louis, and Karen Landers; a brother, Johnny Flanagan with wife Pat; three grandchildren, Kristi Sapp, Joseph Landers with wife Kelsey, and Nathan Kirk with wife Meagan; and three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Delilah, and Chloe. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Faye Smith; four brothers, Leroy Flanagan, Woodrow Flanagan, Jackie Flanagan, and John Vance Flanagan, Jr.; and a sister, Rosalee Flanagan. The family will receive friends between 5 – 6:30 pm Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service in Woodruff. A Celebration of Guy’s Life will be 2 o’clock Tuesday at Selma Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenhaven Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 58105.
