Obituary of Virginia Lawson

Elizabeth “Virginia” Howard Lawson, 79, wife of Neil Lawson for 58 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2022.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Greenville to the late Samuel Thomas Howard and Kathleen Elizabeth Pennington Howard. Virginia was a 1961 graduate of Hillcrest High School and lifetime member of Clear Spring Baptist Church. She served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and volunteered for many mission trips. She was devoted to studying the bible, having read it 25 times in its entirety. Virginia enjoyed crocheting and crafts. She was devoted to her family and loved being “Grammy” to her grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Scott Lawson with wife Noelle; a daughter, Renea Masters with husband Mark; a brother, Rex Howard with wife Myra; four grandchildren, Taylor Lawson, Tanner Lawson with wife Shellby, Connor Masters and Campbell Masters; and a great-granddaughter, Selah Lawson. She was predeceased by a brother, Samuel Howard; and two sisters, Janice Rhynes and Martha Berry.
A Graveside Service will be 11 o’clock Saturday at Clear Spring Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. David Shiflet. The family will receive friends following the service.
