Obituary of Dianne Knight

Carolyn Dianne Charles Knight, 65, of Spartanburg, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 14th at Pelham Hospital. Dianne married the love of her life, Danny R. Knight, on August 19, 1977, celebrating 45 years of marriage this year. Dianne was born on May 2, 1957 in Abingdon, VA to Maurice and the late Barbara Charles. Moving with her family to Spartanburg as a young child, Dianne made many life-long friends around the Duncan and Reidville communities. Known affectionately as “sister” by so many, Dianne will always be remembered as a caring person with a beautiful smile and the big dimples that you can find on the faces of her children and grandchildren. Dianne loved her Lord Jesus and was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the former Oak Grove Baptist Church in Spartanburg where she assisted in the nursery and kitchen. Her cooking was loved by so many. Dianne was a wife, mother, Nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Left behind to cherish her memory in addition to her husband and father are; a daughter, Mandy Chastain and her husband Lee; two sons, Michael Knight and his wife Jennifer, and Kevin Knight and his wife Kayla; nine grandchildren, Jameson (Bri), Tyler, Madison, Michaelyn, Drew, Peyton, Weston, Waylon, and Jackson; a sister, Delaine Ward (Travis); three brothers, Danny Charles (Cathy), Ron Charles (Hillary), and Darrell Charles; a mother-in-law, Yvonne Knight; brothers-in-law, Robert Knight (Candie), Allen Knight, and Jeff Knight; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Charles; a brother, Dennis Charles; a father-in-law, Hugh Knight; and a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Julie Knight. A Celebration of Dianne’s Life will be 2:30 pm Saturday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church (Hwy 417, Moore, SC). Burial will follow in Bethany Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Pelham Medical Center, 4th floor, for the care and support provided to Dianne and the family over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Pallbearers will be Jameson Chastain, Tyler Chastain, Drew Chastain, Jackson Knight, Rob Knight, and Eric Charles. The family is at the home of Ron and Hillary Charles, 431 Whispering Ridge Trail in Woodruff.
