Obituary of Sherry Stewart Swanger

Linda Sherry Stewart Swanger, 71, companion of Roger Templeton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2023. Ms. Swanger was born in Greenville to the late John “Johnny” Paul Stewart and Elizabeth “Liz” Pauline Waters Stewart. She was a member of Princeton Baptist Church. Sherry enjoyed the mountains and beach trips with her family. She loved thrift store and flea-market shopping. She was a collector of shot glasses and porcelain Angels and rabbits. Her greatest joy came in being “Nanny” to her grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to her companion, are two sons, Michael Ferguson (Heather) and Jeff Ferguson (Teresia); a step-son, Bryan Templeton; two daughters, Tanya White (Billy) and Amanda Hensley (Ben); a brother, Richard Stewart (Terry); two sisters, Treda Higgins (Wayne) and Shelly Morasco; twelve grandchildren, Kisha Alexander (Doni), Austin Steele, Kora Turner, Jesse Ferguson (Samantha), Jennifer Ferguson, Alex Reason (Jessica), Kacie Palmateer (Kyle), Chase Hensley, Gabbie Lanford, Abi Stahlnecker, Matthew Stewart, and Brenden Templeton; and seven great-grandchildren, Kera, Payne, Ezra, Kylie, Jackson, Cooper and Tristian. She was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Stewart; and a sister, Karen Young. A Celebration of Sherry’s Life will begin at 11 o’clock Saturday in the mausoleum chapel of Greenville Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Andy Boggs. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
