Obituary of Norah Mahaffey Gunderson

Please share a memory of Norah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norah E. Mahaffey Gunderson, 83, surrounded by loving family, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2023. Mrs. Gunderson was born in Greenville to the late Earl Perry Mahaffey and Mary Louise Coker Mahaffey. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and member of the Sunshine Sunday School class. Norah enjoyed cooking, gardening and volunteering in the community. She believed in living life to the fullest and enjoyed making memories with family and friends. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a faithful servant, always smiling, loving and serving those around her. We grieve her physical absence, but rejoice that she is reunited with her loving husband and in the arms of her Savior. Surviving, are a son, Patrick Gunderson (Carolyn) a daughter, Suzanne Messer (Isaac); a brother, James Mahaffey (Nora Dean); a sister in-law, Karran Dillion; and six grandchildren, Justin Gunderson (Megan), Andrew Gunderson (Ashley), Taylor Messer, Alex McClintock (John Marion), Tori Morgan (Cole), and Madison Messer; five great-grandchildren, Adelyn Gunderson, Emma Hendricks, Erin Hendricks, Mae McClintock, and John Lyle McClintock; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Darrell Lyle Gunderson; two brothers, Lewis Mahaffey and Alvin Mahaffey; a sister, Grace Walters; special aunt, Sue Coker Roper. A Celebration of Norah’s Life will be 3 o’clock Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park will be private. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her church family, Brookstone Terrace Memory Care of Simpsonville, McCall Hospice House, and Prisma Health Hospice for all the love, support and great care given to her and our family this past year.
